Feather & Leap - 25% Milestone Devlog
Development on Feather & Leap has reached 25% completion, with progress in movement, character interactions, and environmental mechanics.
Both characters have fully functional movements. The frog and stork can both jump, move, and grab objects. The stork can fly in flight mode. The frog can dive in dive mode. Both characters can float on top of the water. A stamina system restricts flight and dive time, with a visual stamina bar that follows both players, signaling when flight or dive is unavailable.
Key cooperative mechanics have been implemented. The Stork can carry the Frog into the sky, while the Frog can swallow the Stork to transport it underwater. Restrictions: The frog cannot access high places without the stork, and the stork cannot go underwater without the frog. These abilities are essential for exploration and puzzle-solving.
Puzzles:

To ensure smooth gameplay, we developed a dynamic camera system that keeps both characters in view, smoothly zooming in and out based on their distance while preventing them from moving off-screen.
For the next sprint, we plan to finalize the art style for the game. Tileset implemented in the new art style, water physics updated with water in the new art style, finalize character designs, some character animations for the stork, and a wing flap mechanic for the stork that will contribute to puzzle elements.
