Feather & Leap - 50% Milestone Devlog
Devlog – 50% Milestone Update for Feather & Leap
We’re officially at the halfway mark in development for Feather & Leap! This sprint has been a big step forward as we focused on refining core mechanics, expanding puzzle interactions, and polishing both character and environmental systems.
Water Physics & Bubble Mechanics
One of the major updates this sprint was improving water physics. Both the Frog and the Stork now have fluid movement underwater, and the physics system allows them to float and gently bounce at the water's surface for a more natural feel.
We also introduced a bubble mechanic: when the Stork is swallowed and then spit out by the Frog, it appears underwater in a protective bubble. While inside the bubble, the Stork retains full mobility and can use all its abilities, allowing for new underwater puzzles and exploration.
Character Design
Updated character designs for both the Frog and the Stork have been implemented
New Mechanics & Puzzle Elements
We’ve added several new mechanics to deepen puzzle-solving:
-
Movable Blocks: Large blocks that only the Stork can move, used to interact with the environment.
-
Vines & Small Blocks: Small blocks suspended from vines that can only be accessed when the Stork uses its Beak Attack to cut them down.
-
Doors & Pressure Plates: Puzzle doors that open when blocks are placed on pressure plates—some requiring cooperation to activate multiple plates at once.
Stork’s New Abilities
The Stork now has two brand-new mechanics:
-
Wing Gust: A powerful gust of wind that can push heavy objects like large blocks—perfect for environmental manipulation.
-
Beak Attack: A short-range strike that lets the Stork cut vines and access otherwise unreachable objects.
Feather & Leap
A frog and a stork must work together to cleanse a corrupted world, solving puzzles with their unique abilities.
